Preschool Pizza Party

I went along. I picked Bug Boy up at school and took him to Joe's Pizza.

They got to watch Darren make cheese pizzas for them and loaded pizzas for the moms and teachers. $2 folks - that's all it cost for pizza and punch.

Then they went to the Arcade room and at their pizzas. As you can see there are some serious pizza eaters in this class folks. Mine just eats cheese. LOTS AND LOTS OF CHEESE!

I had a good time aside from some of the other pain in the a** moms. It was fun. Good pizza. Good kids. (Well, most of them anyway!)

Little Bull even had a good time (Pretty sure he wanted to rent "Radio".)

Happy Valentine's Day!

I LOVE KIDDIE PARTIES!
Bug Boy had his preschool V-Day party on Monday. We took some cupcakes with pink frosting for our treat along with Batman paper valentines.
They each got a sugar cookie, frosting and a paintbrush to decorate. His teacher put hearts on all their faces - which added to the cuteness of the day. My son has a shirt on that says "Mom rules" - because it is red and we have limited red in his closet that actually fits him. He had a blast. What amazes me is that parents just don't come to this stuff anymore and we were the only ones who sent treats other than Valentines. Little candy - no cookies, etc. I like it that way, less sugar, but jeez. It was still fun. As long as he had fun that's all that matters!

KINDERGARTEN . . . here I come!

This my friends is my baby. He is technically not "the baby" of the family - but he is my baby. My first born. He will leaving the nest this fall to start his Elementary School Adventures. The first one on the agenda being KINDERGARTEN! And yes, even at RoundUP I almost cried. Almost.

This adorable picture was taken shortly after Kindergarten Round Up last Wednesday. He had a tummy full of cookies and Juice pouches and a shirt full of stickers!

THIS IS WHAT EXCITEMENT LOOKS LIKE - (just in case you were wondering). The teachers had him color, name numbers, ABC's, shapes, colors, write his name, etc. Mrs. T asked him if he could count and he counts pretty well. Once he gets to the teens a few goof him up and aside from the "ty"s (twenty, thirty, forty) everything in between he does pretty well on. So anyway - he counted to twelve. She asked him if he could count any higher. He said "yep, but I counted to twelve, NOW I'm DONE". Well. There you go. Kindergarten here he comes!

McDonald's, Fun, Fries, Coke = Sanity

4th time trying to post this becasue blogger keeps screwing up for some reason.

So anyway last week a friend of mine and I took our boys to Mc'Ds. Great time. Kids had a blast. Was Little Bull's first time actually playing in the playplace. Climbed up the lower level and played with this propeller attached to a steering wheel. Thought he was big stuff - just like the big boys. Seriously cute stuff.

The big boys got "Dragon Boosters" and Little Bull got a Little People toy in their happy meals.

They had so much FUN!

I scored a hot apple pie, great chicken sandwich, some fries, LOTS of diet coke and great ADULT conversation. We were there for over 3 hours. Yeah, I know, what kind of mom takes her kids to McD's for 3 hours (hands waving). This one - with those faces how could I not?

G'day Mate!

Well, we now have a little wooden box up stairs in his room that will always remind him of his treasure hunt. And it will always remind me of how important it is to imagine and believe. . . .and make time for the little things that make a big difference. Posted by Picasa

A 'real' gold coin!

I look at these pictures and they literally crack me up and then make me want to cry.

I don't think it is at all possible for ANYONE else in this world except for the four of us that were there to know how excited this kid was. I don't think anyone else has any idea how much a little treasure means to a 4 year old pirate finatic.

Whole lotta booty!

I bet this string is "real" gold!

The box. . .

Small, pink, cold hands, tightly gripping an old wooden box.

One little boy giddy with anticipation.

Thank you grama and papa. Thank you.
Posted by Picasa

Priceless. . . .

Look at the expression on this boys face. Is it possible that he could be any more excited? Really? I don't think so. Here was this little wooden box, tied with gold cord, tucked up in this rock along our lane.

These are the moments that stop time.

This way, Papa!

Yo, Ho, Ho and a bottle of rum. . . argh matey!

You are looking at one HAPPY BOY. Look at that face. He is preparing to embark on a Pirate Treasure Hunt that Grandma and Papa put together for him. Apparently, we are in the 100 mile radius of a treasure. They come bearing witching wires, and Long John Silver's Pirate Hats.

The resemblance between my father in law and the Pope is purely coincidental, don't you think?

This is the trek down the lane with the witching wires to find the exact location of the Pirate's booty.

The boy was estatic. Before we left the house I asked him if I could come along and take pictures. His response was, "Yeah, mom you can come document it, but you can't use the flash, and don't expect me to turn around because I will be too busy." - did I mention he is only 4. What 4 year old uses the word "document" - I think his dad watches the History channel a little much. Not sure what the anti - flash message is about but thinking the whole conversation was way cute.

You've got mail!

Yep, I took a picture of my mailbox.

We really need a new one. A big mailbox. Huge.

So all my Paperback Swap books fit into it, and so the postman can stop shoving and squeezing every book and small (looks like it will just fit) sized package in there. Some days I can't get them out. Seriously - I have no idea how he gets them in there. We love our postman. Just not our mailbox.

These are my books from
www.paperbackswap.com.

It is awesome. You list books that you are through reading and wouldn't mind swapping with someone. They look at your list. You mail them the book they request. They receive it. You get a credit. You get to pick out a book from someone else that you want to read. The only thing you pay for is the four or five stamps it costs to send your book media mail. It rocks. I seriously recommend if you like to read to go check it out. I now have such a huge buttload of books I never know what I want to read first. I love you paperbackswap, where have you been ALL my life

Here kitty, kitty . . .

What could possibly keep two small boys intrigued for oh, say, 20 minutes?

A kitty.

The neighbors kitty visits Ar & Walt on a regular basis and Ar feeds it regularly (kind of like us).

The boys were looking out the window watching the kitty eat. How mesmerizing.

Meow.

Speechless

Have you ever smiled so hard that your eyes just disappear?

We went out to supper and after we ate one of the waitresses gave Bug Boy two tootsie pops. He gave Little Bull one and I let him eat it because they were both so well behaved.

This is how happy he was eating his tootsie pop.

Pure bliss.

Mud, where, what mud?

We currently have enough mud at our house to make 4,092 mud pies. Yes, I'm pretty sure of that figure. How do I know? Because this little guy brought half of it in the house with him. Everything is mud. Thank goodness we have a "mudroom" - and it is the first room that everyone goes into when entering the house. Otherwise my cream colored living room carpet would look like this.

This little boy was not outside that long - I'm not exactly sure what happened. Pretty sure his answer was that he was sitting in a mud puddle. I read a poem awhile back called mud puddles and dandelions - where's my dandelions?

Thank you Steve Madden!

Thank you Steve Madden for creating these beautiful and comfy slippers for my dry, sore feet. I love you. I found these slippers on ebay a couple weeks ago and they usually sell for about 30 bucks - I got mine for 15.00. How sweet is that? They are cute and super comfy. Pink and have bling. What more could a girl ask for?

These will NOT be worn outside and so help me GOD if I catch my husbands feet even brushing by them I will cut his toes off one by one.

He so conveniently slips my slippers on to run out to the car, down to the basement, or out on the deck. If this occurs - the throw down WILL commence, people. Injuries will be sustained

messypic.1a - EVIDENCE

. . . with that being said sir, "I rest my case". Posted by Picasa

BUSTED!

This little guy has now moved to the "Mr. Independent" stage. Directly behind him, off to the left is a three tiered stand, the middle tier contains snacks for the boys. Bug Boy has a basket that his his fruit snacks, etc. in it allowing me to save a small ounce of my sanity because he is ALWAYS hungry. So he can go get them by himself. This little guy on the other hand decided to follow suit - except not quite as tidy in his independent-ness.

See above picture submitted into evidence as (messypic.1a) on this the 8th of February, 2006.

Preschool Artwork Part Deux

More preschool artwork. Posted by Picasa

This looks like my mom. . . .

A comedian, this kid could make it as a comedian. Case in point: Paper Plate Face.
This is his 5 senses paper plate face he made at Preschool. I love preschool art work. I think it's the innocence and intent that I love the most.

I knew this was the five senses because I met another little girl in the hallway who told me what it was BEFORE I got to my son.

Shortly after passing her in the hallway Bug Boy comes barreling around the corner with a big hug and this in his hands.

When I asked him what it was, this is what he said
"It looks like you in the morning when you take me to school."

I laughed all the way home. I hung it on my cupboard in the kitchen where all the new artwork goes. When his daddy came home he asked him the same question. This is what he said
"It looks like mommy when she leaves the house in the morning."

Thanks kid. Just another reason why I love you so stinkin' much!

I Love Playdates!

Welcome in little W!

Meet W. He is the grandson of Ar & Walt's neighbors. He is one sweet kid with the longest eyelashes I have EVER seen. He is cute. He and Bug Boy played like two peas in a pod today. They were so good, well mannered, well behaved, and have such similar tastes that it's spooky.

Then there's poor Little Bull who's used to playing with his big brother and just wanted to play with the big boys today. Copied everything they did. Felt kind of sorry for him but he's a mama's boy anyway. Got lots of stuff done thanks to W's visit and extended semi-supervised playtime. Thanks J & M. Thanks, cute little W.

Life Lesson #1

Don't let your son play with your bra.

This is my bra, this is my bra on my son.
No I did not put it there. He is obsessed.

He might pick it up in the clean laundry or while it's laying on the bathroom floor after bathing. He cried until he got it perfectly wrapped around his neck and shoulders in shawl fashion.

Does this disturb you as much as it disturbs me?
I NOW could NEVER make this a public BLOG because the word BRA would bring all the porn junkies searching the word BRA to this innocent mother's web blog.

It was late. I was tired. It was clean. He's only 1. He was extremely happy. What's the harm?

Infomercial #983: The Remote Holster. . .

Meet my husband . . .
meet the couch . . .
meet the remote . . .

in a man's world throw in a beer and snacks and you've got the makings to a great day!

He consistenly loses the remote. He discovered that his work jeans have a hammer loop perfect for his remote. I think what amazes me the most about this very disturbing picture is that he was bored enough and actually thinking about this long enough to come up with this idea. I'M SURE IT'S BEEN PATENTED BY NOW. He's not the first man to lay on the couch sans remote. . . . How about yours?

Even superhero's sleep . . .

This is SuperBaby, falling asleep, on his Super Horse. This horse will put him to sleep, EVERY TIME. Shortly after this photo was taken some serious head bobbing occured and then followed with his mother enveloping him in her loving arms and placing him in his little SuperHero recharging chamber. After all, even Super Hero's need sleep. . . . Posted by Picasa

SuperBaby on Duty

I'm sure you cannot see her - but in that dark mass near the pop is our cat. Miss Kitty. (how original, I know). Anyway, Superbaby is preparing to leap over the baby gate in a single bound and rescue Miss Kitty, from the dog, who is afraid of her. Yes, our dog is afraid of our cat . . . that's another story for another day. Check back later for more (insert booming sound & Symphony music)
"Adventures of SuperBaby" (bum, bum, bum!)

It's a bird, it's a plane, NO - IT'S SUPERBABY!

Yep folks, your lookin' at him. It is Superbaby, in the flesh, in my living room. I fill his bottles and am fortunate enough to change his pants. He stopped for a bottle of whole milk to refuel. I love this picture. This is the SuperMan cape his brother got as a Christmas Present and it is electronic. When he moves his arms in the air in a flying motion (as only SuperMan - I mean baby) does the 'S' lights up and it makes a whooshing sound. Yes, very cool, very, very cool. I even think its cool. This little guy really loves it. He wants it on, then off, and then cries to get it back on. Some times I think it really does have super powers, maybe he does? I wonder if it would fit me . . . . . 152 Uses for a clothespin . . .

Seriously, I consider myself a fairly crafty mom. We don't get to craft as often as I like because well, the list is just to long, but anyway, I honestly did not think of making this cute little man with googly eyes, pipecleaner arms and a felt body out of a clothespin. It is absolutely adorable. Kudos to Ms. Lynn and the Ms. Debbie's (yes plural). My son seems to have a hard time remembering what all these projects symbolize (because a 4yo mind can contain that information until snack time when the sugar overload takes over and then it spontaneously combusts) - thank goodness for the little stamp on his hand that reminds him of todays lesson.

OK - so the moral of the story. . . NO you are not going to really see 152 uses for a clothespin (of course I could come up with them but I have a few more pressing things to do with my time), but contrary to the sugary post below - I DO LOVE SS. I love the projects, the teachers, the singing, and that this little guy was made there by a little guy who loves crafts. Posted by Picasa

Thank you Sunday School . . .

Not only is Sunday School the greatest place in the world - because he learns about Jesus. The boy gets in the car so excited, gets a little stamp on his hand to remind him what he learned, and brings home wonderful bible stories to color, it is also the only place that I know he can have a sugar cookie AND a frosted cupcake BEFORE 10 am for a snack. In God we trust. Thank you. Posted by Picasa

"The apple doesn't fall far from the tree . . . "

Yes, this is my son. Yes, he is barely one in this photograph. And, yes he is pretending to talk on the phone. Funny thing that phone, it is a disney princess phone that his gram has.
THIS PHONE IS ANNOYING.
1. Sounds like Ariel and she is making a date with you.
2. Doesn't shut up if the phone is off the hook.
3. Has an insanely long cord which this little guy conveniently wraps around his neck.
THIS KID IS CUTE.
1. He uses this phone like he's really talking on it.

2. He is totally mimicking his mother who should have the phone surgically attached to her ear.
3. He loves the cord around his neck?!? (yes, I watch him when he plays with it, duh)
4. He would love a date with Ariel.
